Green Bank Turkey Trot 5K
This past Saturday, November 28, 2009 was the 4th Annual Green Bank Turkey Trot 5K run/walk race held at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory in Green Bank, West Virginia.
The course took participants around the many radio telescopes on the Observatory grounds, and afforded spectacular scenery and surroundings from start to finish.
According to Mike Stennes, race organizer, this year had a record number of participants with 62 runners and walkers total. Many runners were from nearby and throughout West Virginia, as well as farther places such as Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, and even Florida and England!
The weather was sunny and cool, quite perfect actually for this event.
You can view race results at iPlayOutside.com, as well as a photo slideshow of the event.
The race was a lot of fun, and it was great to see so many kids as well as runners from all ages participating and having fun. Many thanks to Mike Stennes and helpers for putting on this event.
